How To Reset A Locked Password
If you have received the Optimum ID Alert Message, we have provided helpful tips at safeguarding your account security.
- Selecting the click here link will take you to the password reset page.
- If you have previously provided a mobile number or email address you can select that option to receive a temporary password. If you don't have access to either, you can select that option and answer the security questions displayed.
- You will see the change password page, where you are informed to use a new password.
- You will not be able to reset the password to any of the last (12) passwords used.
It is recommended to use a password you’ve never used before. Below are some tips for creating a secure password.
Tips for creating a secure password:
- Use a mixture of letters and numbers.
- Mix upper and lowercase letters.
- Include similar-looking substitutions, such as the number zero for the letter "O".
- Include phonetic replacements, such as "L1ve2Laf" for "Live to Laugh".
- Passwords must be between 8 - 32 characters.
- View the password strength indicator for a "strong" password.
Avoid using:
- An example listed as a good password.
- A password that contains personal information (name, birth date).
- Words or acronyms that can be found in a dictionary.
- Keyboard patterns or sequential numbers.
- All numbers, all uppercase letters, or all lowercase letters.
- Repeating characters(aaa111).
Special Characters, spaces or punctuation marks are not allowed, for example: ~ @ [ # $ ? % & *, etc.
